Say "Yes"

Good Evening my loves,

I must say, it was hard for me to choose a topic for this post. lol! This was going to be my first option for a video podcast; however, I was unable to edit it. I needed to create and post a video podcast for one of my courses at Saint Thomas University and then I realized, I have something special for you guys. I've decided to show you a little bit of my religious background. Here's a video of myself doing a  praise dance along with my family to Yes by Shekinah Glory. For those who may not know, I'm Seventh-day Adventist. I've been SDA since birth and haven't change religions since then. As a family, we thought it would be wonderful to share with my fellow classmates for my religious course and now I would like to share it with you guys. For those who want to know more about Seventh-day Adventist, I found a link that would be helpful to give you a better understanding of it.

P.S.- The video may not be as clear because we had to use a webcam. Also, if you had noticed, their faces are painted white and black. This type of dance is called Gospel miming. Enjoy!

Special Post- Angel of Mine (Video podcast)

Hello everyone! I know you have been patiently waiting for my piano cover; however, I've decided to make one of my family while I'm still in the process of learning my surprise song for you guys. Here's a video of my youngest sister, Star, playing the piano while my God sister is singing Angel of Mine by Monica. Yes, I have good amount of people in my family that we claim. lol!  Starlene and Alexandra are two passionate young ladies in the making of becoming great singers. Unfortunately, in this post you will be unable to hear Star sing. Ever since they we're little, Starlene and Alexandra have performed for abundant amount of Seventh-day Adventist churches around South Florida.

This video was specially made for one of my courses at Saint Thomas University. I'm hoping this is close enough to a video podcast. lol! I hope you enjoy it and have a good day!

P.S. - Alex (the singer) was a little shy while I was recording so I apologize in future reference if you can't hear her.

Finally Breathing

                                           Finally Breathing

Hey Everyone!

For those who have finished their finals I would have to say "bravo bravo, you have completed a semester". I know I'm happy to BREATHE comfortably again from a stressful semester. I believe I had abundance amount of papers to complete before the week had ended and how frustrating is that? If only one paper was able to help one another, I would've had longer hours of sleep. Nevertheless, I'm extremely happy that I could finally take the time relax and celebrate the holidays. In addition to the festivities and celebrations of one of my favorite holidays is I'm looking forward speeding time with my family. Family is everything to me!

As of today, my family and I finally can say that we have a tree in our home. But my dears this is not just any ol' tree, but a white Christmas tree to match my family's new home. Indeed, it still has the bittersweet smell of the any ordinary tree scent one will have with countless shedding one must sweep every five hours. Hopefully the holidays will sink into our brains and help us mentally waken from our busy lifestyles. As for my followers, what is your favorite Holiday? By the end of the year, have you or do you celebrate more than one holiday? Every so often my family and I would not only celebrate Christmas but also celebrate Kwanzaa. Kwanzaa is a week long celebration of honoring universal African-American Heritage. Just like Christmas, it's a beautiful holiday to celebrate family, community, and culture. For those who are interested in researching Kwanzaa, I have found a few links you can look into. Happy Holidays to everyone!

Here are the links on Kwanzaa.

The Unforgettable

In one of my previous posts, I've stated that I would post a video of myself playing Diary by Alicia Keys along with my sister to bring my talent back to life. However, I believe I'm going to change the song and just keep it a surprise. Since it has been years since I've touch the black and white keys, I've decided to play something with fewer keys. Don't get me wrong, I love a challenge and who knows, I just might make two videos than just one. Living as a full time college student, I'm kinda unable to have a piano teacher to come in, so I've decided to look at piano tutorials on Youtube. Plus, my mother always told me I knew how to play by ear; she's truly the reason why I was born with such a beautiful gift because we both share the same talent. My mom use to play the organ and piano from her childhood to her early twenties.Even on certain occasions she would play for family and friends.

On Youtube I was looking for pianists that would play a few of my favorite songs and I came across a video. One of my fav songs from last year was There Goes my Baby by Usher. Here's a piano cover by  Marcus Stanley. Usually pianist like him, play by ear. This is something worth listnening to.

Were it all Began

                                           Were it All Began

There was some sense of confusion when a few came across the title of my blog and I'm here to clarify it. Those who may not know how I came up with the title of my blog, "Breathe- We're in Livin' color", was an inspiration from a TV show I watched growing up as child. Here is a Diverse television show created and written by the Wayns Family in the early 1990's. The name of the show is "In Living Color".  During this time were up coming stars acting in an comedy sketch show that is still on television til this day. In addition to the cast, these up coming stars are now well known across the world such as: Jim Carrey, Tom Cruise, Jmaie Foxx, Wayns Family, Jennifer Lopez and much more. Unfortunately, the episodes that are running are the re-runs from the 90's. In the 90's, not too many decades ago before that, different race were unable to collaborate together and this television show some sense of unity.

"In living color" was taped in before a live studio  audience at Fox Television Center in Hollywood, California. According to Wiki, The title of the series was inspired by the NBC announcement of broadcasts being presented "in living color" during the 1950s and 1960s, prior to mainstream color television.

Since Christmas is quickly approaching, I thought I share a episode from "In living color" when the cast members are as children ready to meet snata. Here is a man called Homey D clown whose job is to entertain children until his parole is due.

If you want to send me an e-mail about your childhood experience, you're more than welcome to.

Testing the Waters

Imagine! At the age of two watching a cancer patient battle for their life. And that cancer patient is no other than your fleshing blood; your brother. Along with watching your brother fail to win the battle, you're still in the process of trying to understand the sounds of your parents voice because of their lack of hearing; not knowing they're deaf. Now BREATHE-- there's a positive side to this story about a little girl.
Here's a testing photo of my God sister with a new camera I've received over the summer. I'm also her substitute teacher for a nearby school in Florida. I began early last year the task of being an educator for young children, and WHAT AN EXPERIENCE it has been thus far! Lol! My god sister, CiCi, always brightens my day with her unforgettable smile. She's a little girl with a big heart whose always willing to share her daily adventures. Even though CiCi may not understand her surroundings as of right now, She finds ways to communicate with her family and she's able to speak clear English with the help of her living brother (Tory). At the end of the day, she keeps her family sane.
Here's a photo of CiCi & I at a family BBQ
She says: Hello Kitty! lol!

Cater to you!

Here's an image of my piano. (=

Hey you! Yea-- YOU! With all those God given talents. When was the last time you dedicated yourself to something you love? Has it been days, months, or even years? Well as for me, one of my talents, many who would recognize just by walking into my home during my time of adolescences, was playing the piano. Can you imagine me, a little red head girl with glasses (minus the freckles) playing the piano for one of Miami’s best Universities? Yes, it was I, playing for University of Miami during at the age of 11. In addition to that special occasion, my childhood piano teacher held the ordinary residuals, rehearsals, and private duos with other students that helped me progress. Unfortunately, I stopped a certain age during high school.

Last night I was walking around my house to secure my doors and realized the amount of instruments I have in my house. I have guitars, keyboards, drums, and a piano. If you name it, I have it! How can a home full of instruments never be touched? And then-- Bam! It hit me, like a car cash on I-95. Don’t worry; I don’t need “411 pain”. I shall make a piano tutorial for this blog. It will help me by polishing my gift and show others what I do best. I was told in the past, a gift can never be taken away from you. So, I shall post a video clip of myself playing one of my favorite songs “diary” by Alicia Keys. While I’m playing the piano, I’m going to have my sister sing the song. Hopefully it will be done by late December. Can you digg?

If you have yet to here the song, Below there's a video of the song from Youtube.com. I've always adored this song and I hope you like it too. Enjoy!

Classie's Classy

Inhale and Exhale! Having to witness true love was a beautiful site to see and Indeed I was glad to be there on an old friend's special day. Take a look at the images of my adventure to Long Island, NY for a weekend vacay. During my stay at NY, I attended an old friend's wedding that ironically fitted the description of her name which is "Classie". A classy young woman who will now be shared with the man she loves. Also, I added a few photos from and to NY. The images will explain it all. Enjoy! ~Danni
